Bio / history

Born 4th October 1959 in Kingsbury, London to mum Eileen and dad Gordon, Gary also has a brother, Roy.

Living near Wembley Stadium, dad was often found at Greyhound Racing with his brothers, who were all big gamblers. When Gary was 18, he found out that his initials, GRA, really came from the Greyhound Racing Association.

Gary has a well known love of horses and especially horse racing, lucky enough to own his own at this present time. You may have seen Bing feature on some of Gary's videos.

Interests including horse racing, boxing (boxed for West Hendon Boxing Club between the ages of 8 and 16), and football, having had trials for Fulham and played for Brent County.

Showbiz started when at 14 Gary won a major talent contest in Butlin's, Minehead, and at 15 was appearing at West End night spots in London while still at school!

At Kingsbury High School, this led to a major theatre show starring Jimmy Jewel called Crown Jewels in 1977. Then on to Summer Season in 1979 on Ken Dodd's Laughter Show in Scarborough Opera House.

1980/81 Gary won the heat of LWT's Search for a Star and was finalist alongside Joe Longthorne.

Gary had his own show in Jersey Islands 1983-86 and was awarded the Best Act by the Variety Club of Great Britain. In between was supporting many TV stars in major theatre clubs like Cesar's Palace, Jollies, Night Out, Bailey's, doing circuits with people like Tommy Cooper, Bob Monkhouse, Harry Secombe, etc.

In 1988 Gary joined That'll Be The Day for one month, and has now appeared with the show for nearly 40 years this year (2025/26).

It is Gary's 50th year in his showbiz solo career, and is now touring his Voice of the Legends show.

Gary is married to Tracy Anderson and has 2 step children, Lewis and Megan.

Hobbies away from showbiz of course include his horses and equestrian farm retreat. His lovely horse Bing is an ex racehorse.

I've worked alongside Trevor Payne for 38 years as a comedy double act - probably the only one left!

Trevor is an absolute inspiration to me and it is so fitting to do An Evening With tour, starting in June 2024.

Gary now has a new management team with Whaley Entertainments Ltd, with Steve Whale promoting the "Voice of the Legends Gary Anderson and Friends Show".

June 2025 sees the release of a new album, Reflections of Love.
